Play Therapy

Play is the primary way children learn about their world, solve problems, engage with others, and explore their feelings. Play therapy provides children who face developmental, emotional, and/or social challenges a safe and consistent space to express and make sense of their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It allows them to practice taking on different perspectives, learn coping skills, and develop and organize their personal narrative.

DIR®/Floortime™

DIR®/Floortimeâ„¢ is a relationship-based model developed by Drs. Stanley Greenspan & Serena Wieder, that supports all children’s development but is most commonly used to support children with social-emotional, mental health, and developmental difficulties. This comprehensive approach is rooted in child development with a particular emphasis on social-emotional development that helps parents and professionals gain insight into a child’s unique way of understanding and experiencing their world. Floortimeâ„¢ utilizes play and the power of relationships to support a child’s capacities of relating, communicating, and thinking. By building on a child’s interests, Floortimeâ„¢ helps to facilitate engagement, create sustained reciprocal interactions, and promote increasingly more complex thinking over time.

Parent-Child Therapy

The focus of parent-child therapy is the promotion of positive interactions between you and your child. Play is used as a way to gain further insight into your relationship with your child, develop ways to better communicate and understand one another, and develop strategies to work through conflict and negative feelings in a therapeutically safe space.

Parent Guidance

Parenting is a deeply gratifying experience and it is also very difficult. You can be faced with many conflicting emotions. Today’s parents have access to endless amounts of information, but few have professional partners with whom they can reflect their personal experience and receive guidance that is individualized, empathic, and rooted in sound practice. Whether parents want to check-in to receive feedback about their child’s development, or whether there are greater concerns pertaining to development and behavior, we are here to provide support and guidance.
